Not the whole town, but Enrique's Mexican at the airport. I have recommended Enrique's in these pages. But while their food is still superior, their service is appalling. A contingent of snotty girls who obviously wish they worked elsewhere for 10 times the money. Well, guess what: if you can't be happy and do the best you can in your current lot in life there will not be a better one to move up to.
We were there and only wanted some food to go, but having flown in we were thirsty. Since we are considerate folks, we asked if it would be OK to take a table (pre dinner time rush) and have a couple of lemonades while the take out was being prepared. They said it would be OK but the events (and overheard comments) were quite to the opposite. One girl was downright rude and the other scarcely better. Eventually our food appeared and I timed 10 minutes and no-one had said "your food is ready".
And I am a very good and generous tipper and was asking for NOTHING other than what I needed. They would have got an excellent tip for almost no work. Probably better than most tables of 4-6 leave. I left "something", just as an indication of "what might have been."
I am really ticked off and suggest that if food is important, you might still take the risk, but simply safeguard your blood pressure and immediately walk (or fly!) out if you are unlucky enough to encounter rudeness of this kind.
I was disgusted that this country (and in the heartland mind you) seems to have (in the past 15 years since I have gone to this place) truly deteriorated in common courtesy, and these young (and some not-so-young; quite old enough to know a good deal better) waitresses are a sign of that tangible demise. This "European" attitude (that's what they reminded me of: disenchanted European waitresses who throw food at their patrons with a sneer" are bringing down our wonderful and great country with their utterly unAmerican attitude of rudeness.
Never again Mr Enrique! Never ever again will I darken your door! And my apologies for "putting out" your staff by asking for a simple take-out order and 2 glasses of lemonade.
And I have been a good customer of yours for 15 years. You need to choose staff who do not alienate people like me Sir, for I fear from the long faces in the restaurant I was certainly not alone in thinking the service absolutely stunk to high heavens.
