Once upon a time (as recently as 20 years ago, anyway), this was available at a couple of specialty places here in Chicago. If you're not familiar with it, it's a wonderfully aromatic, flavorful black pepper from Micronesia. Anyway, all local sources for this appear to have dried up in the early '80s. I've been to one web source for pepper that says the production of this pepper has been taken over by the Micronesian government, which hasn't figured out how to market it for export. (If a Micronese government official is reading this, please for god's sake respond and I'll give you some pointers....) Whatever, I have no idea whether or not this is true or if there is currently any retail source for this pepper outside of Ponape. Anyone know anything about this?
