Finally tried it.
It's pretty pricey for a market stand. at 4 bucks for a small and 5 for a large not including any sauce.
anyhow, i had the small fries and they were pretty good, obviously hand cut, and crispy and meaty on the inside. but for some reason, i still was not wowed. in my opinion, i would almost compare it for LA french fries to the ones you can get at Wurstkuche sans the truffle salt, natch.
but i did like them.
here's the kicker though: i also ordered the Liege (how the hell do you pronounce that thing) waffle, unadorned and i told them to leave off the confectioner's sugar. the liege was pretty darn great. Great nooks and crannies with sugar crystals embedded in there (a touch too sweet already, without the help of any other toppings, but still really delicious, especially served hot). it seems to be like a flatter version of a belgian waffle that you can eat on the go.
and before i forget the fries are fried to order. so even if there are only a couple persons on line, it may be a five to six minute wait. while you're there, get a fistful of the dried jujubees, i got those while waiting for my order to be prepared.
sadly, i was in a rush to leave so i didn't get the chance to check out the other stands. And sadly got the fries, no sauce. but i think with the sauce it would make a great combo, for future reference.
i guess patrick was there, the slim guy with the glasses plus an assistant. ???? though i didn't detect a belgian or french accent.
definitely worth a try, anyhow.
