One of the best meals I've ever had, and which to this day my daughter and I still talk about, is a dinner we had last year at Central Michel Richard in Washington, D.C.
My daughter got a craving the other day for the delicious Chocolate Bar (a dessert) we shared there. Because she recently got A's in her first two graduate school classes, I thought I'd get her a Chocolate Bar as an "Atta Girl" present. I recalled that Michel Richard had been operating Villard Michel Richard at the New York Palace. But when I googled it just now, it appears to have closed last May. Wah. But not surprising. Successor to the ill-fated Gilt, Villard got some pretty bad reviews. I think Michel Richard was MIA and managing it remotely.
Looking at the Palace's website, they have a restaurant there called Pomme Palais, serving breakfast and lunch. A glimpse of their menu has something called a Chocolate Bar! The Palace doesn't appear to have a dinner venue anymore. Not sure if this is Michel Richard's Chocolate Bar. Before anyone says call them, believe me, I plan on it.
Just wondering if anyone has dined at Pomme Palais and if it was good. (French Onion Soup?) Because I may surprise the girl with a visit.
