Polenta too coarse?

anthonyjdefino | Mar 13, 201702:26 PM     8

Hello, all! I have never made polenta/corn grits before but am really interested. I went to my local coop and bought coarsely ground corn meal labeled as "polenta" from the bulk bin. I started to make some, but after an hour on the stove and continually adding water (upping my water to corn ratio to about 5.5 or 6:1), they are still hard and not cooked all of the way through. I am wondering if these grits I bought are potentially too coarse, and if this problem could be remedied. Thanks for the help!
