Just returned from two weeks in the islands -- Maui, Kauai and Oahu -- and must report on an absolutely decadent cocktail I had at The Pointe Restaurant at the Sheraton Resort on Poipu Beach....the Tropitini.
To a martini shaker filled with ice, add a splash (half jigger) of pineapple juice; a splash of sweet and sour; and a splash of 7-Up (I use Diet 7-Up). Then add to the shaker a jigger each of Bacardi Limon Rum, Absolut Citron and Blue Curacao.
The Pointe charges $12.50 for this drink but earlier this week on my lunch hour I went to the liquor store and bought all ingredients for $51. I've made five of these already and barely made a dent in the bottles.
Thanx to all on this board for your restaurant recommendations. Growing up with the nickname of *The Noodle Kid*, I sampled saimen from one end of each island to the other and still haven't had my fill. If only I could duplicate this at home!!
Tried to get to Legend one night in Chinatown on Oahu for some good dim sum but four different people told me not to go at night.......and I was going to take a cab! I soooo love good dim sum, something not available here in Southern Oregon.
Can't wait to return. Miss those 87-degree days and the 76-degree nights. I could sell everything we own and move there but would have to move without hubby!
