Point Richmond: Head's up - The Baltic is being reincarnated ... once again

During the Point Richmond Music Festival last Friday, the new owners of The Baltic were offering samples of chicken schnitzel and bread pudding. The tasty tidbits warrant further exploration when they open. They will be featuring German and American food and are shooting for an opening date of August 28 or 29 (I can't remember which). Not sure if they are working on getting a full liquor license, but I would think they will have at least beer and wine!

They passed out a preliminary menu:

Appetizers - Vorspeisen
-Karteffelpuffer mit Apfelmus (Potato pancakes with apple sauce)
-Kleine Bratwurst emit Sauerkraut (Bratwurst with sauerkraut)

Soups – Suppen
-Erbsensuppe mid oder ehne Wurst (Split pea soup with or w/o sausage)
-Kartoffel-Lachs Supp emit Speckstuckchen (Potato leek soup with bacon bits)

Salad – Salat
-Haussalat deutscher Art mit Gurkensalat, Rotebeetesalat, Kartoffelsalat, Karrottensalat Krautsalat (German style house salad with cucumber, red beet, potato, carrot and white cabbage salads)

Vegetarian Entrees – Vegitarische Kauptspeisen
-Kasespatzle mit Zwiebeln und Emmenthaler (Cheese spatzle with carmelized onions and emmenthaller cheese)
-Knodel mit ChampignonsoBe (Bread dumpling with Champignon sauce
-Gemusestrudel gefullt mit gebratener rote paprika, spinat, zwiebel und Ziegenkase serviert mit einer paprikasoBe (vegetable strudel stuffed with roasted red bell peppers, spinach, onion and goat cheese served with paprika sauce)

German Entrees – Deutsche Hauptgerichte
-Weinerschnitzel vom schwein mit bratkartoffeln und gemischtem salat (Breaded and sautéed pork loin with roasted potatoes and mixed salad)
-Schnitzel wiener art vom huhn mit bratkartoffeln und gemischtem salat (Breaded and sautéed chicken breast with roasted potatoes and mixed salad)
-Kassler vom grill mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelbrei (Grilled smoked pork chop with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes)
-Gegrillte Nurnberger Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelbrei (Grilled Nurnburger pork sausage with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes)
-Sauerbraten mit Preiselbeerkonfiture, serviert mit Rothehl und Spatzle (Braised beef tri-tip marinated and aged in red wine, served with cranberry sauce, red cabbage and spatzle)
-Falscher Hause mit hard gekochtem Ei, ZwiebelsoBe und Kartoffelbrei (German meatloaf served with hardboiled egg, carmelized onion sauce and mashed potatoes)
-Wildbraten mit Preiselbeerkonfiture, serviert mit Rotkohl und Spatzle (Venison steak served with cranberry sauce, red cabbage and spatzle)
-Gulasch uber Spatzle (Beef stew over spatzle)

American Entrees
-Prime Rib with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach
-New York Steak with French fries, onion sauce and herb butter
-Buffalo Burger with buffalo fries (I think buffalo fries is a typo?)
-1/2 lb burger with cheese, onion, tomato, mayonnaise and French fries
-Grilled Salmon with baked potato and spinach
-1/2 Roasted Chicken with mashed potatoes and tomato rague sauce

Sandwiches for lunch: Chicken schnitzel, Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Crab, Prime rib, turkey
With a choice of sides: French fries, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, red cabbage or salad

Other lunch offerings: Chicken schnitzel, wiener schnitzel, Jager schnitzel, beef goulash, potato pancakes, cheese spatzle, vegetarian strudel
