Poached Hot Dogs

FoodFundi | Feb 22, 201712:25 AM

Hey Guys

I always found the idea of Poached Hot Dogs gross - I felts a Fresh Dog belongs directly on the grill but I decided to give it a try 1 day and boy was I surprised. I used a Slow Cooker to keep the temp around 160F and then after an hours - I removed it and put it straight into a pan with a little oil to char it a bit

Damn these were fine Hot Dogs - perfectly juicy and the texture was just right. Only 1 downfall I found - The water robbed the dog of a little flavour - normally the Hot Dog directly off the grill remains full of flavour - the store bought dogs we buy are spicy and hot - I found that after the Water Bath - the spiciness got toned down a bit and the salt was reduced in the final product.

I'm loving this new method but want to know how do I prevent the flavor loss or atleast add it back somehow.

Bare in mind we buy our dogs from the store so have no control of the spices or salt content.

Thanks
