In the last few months I have been to the Pluckemin Inn three times - once for lunch and once for an event. Both times the food was extremely good. Without a doubt, though, my most recent meal at the Pluckemin Inn has to be among the best I have ever eaten. Two of us started with the risotto with white truffle as an appetizer. The risotto was perfectly cooked and seasoned so that the very generous shavings of white truffle could be savored. OK, it was $36, but worth every penny. Our third diner started with the quail and kale, which he said was also excellent. We all opted for the Cervena venison off the prix fixe menu; and, again the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned - no sauce - just the pure rich flavor of the venison that was so buttery. The meat was served with some grilled Belgian endive and some peppery mustard green. Desserts and cheeses were also of the same caliber. With our meal we drank a nice bottle of Nebbiolo from the Plucky 100 wine list for about $50. Wonderful service and ambience. You do pay for all of this, but this is fine dining the way it should be.
