Pleasantly Surprised at The Cottage

I took my 5 year-old picky eater and 4 year-old to the Cottage in Wellesley last night for dinner at 5pm. First of all, when we were seated, the children were given crayons, a coloring book, and Wiki Stix, wax sticks that can be bent into different shapes and stuck together to make things. The kids were happy and quiet.

I ordered the fish tacos, and the kids got sliders and grilled cheese off the kids menu. The fish tacos were very tasty and the portion was good (3 tacos, some mango.avocado salsa, and a small cup of back beans). The kids ate and approved of their food (which is pretty miraculous). Their fries were tasty.

The only problem we had was getting the check. It was around 6pm and the place filled up. Our waiter was running around taking orders so it took a few extra minutes for him to come over and check on us (he checked on us before, but the kids were still eating at the time).

I expected to not like the place, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure it helped that we got there so early. The kids said they'd like to go back and so would I. It's not cheap, but nice for a change.
