Just came back from lunch at Craftbar w/4 colleagues. I had the red oak leaf salad, skate, and no dessert (since I have dinner plans for tonight). The skate was a nice, fresh piece of fish, lightly fried. It was perfect, if a bit bland (as some of my companions complained--3 of us had skate). The accompanying chanterelle mushrooms were somewhat overcooked and leathery, but I still enjoyed the dish.
Strongest raves at lunch went to the octopus appetizer, which one of my colleagues had. The foie gras pate went mostly uneaten and was declared ordinary by my picky colleague.
For dessert, everyone seemed to enjoy the bread pudding. I had a taste of the cookies--$12 for a generous helping of 4 different types of cookies--and found them to be pretty ordinary (but aren't cookies ordinary by definition?), but good.
The restaurant was nice and quiet, but pretty deserted (about 2 other tables. Wonder if this was a product of the rain or if this is usual?
I'll definitely be back w/a bigger appetite next time.
