Paneantico, of all unlikely places to go doughnut hunting, but there it is. It is the sugared twist, rich, textured, beautifully raised, perfectly fried with a slightly-barely-slightly crispy outside and not a touch of grease inside. It is magnificent. It is 75 cents. They brought me a knife and fork, but that would have been silly as I would have had no reason to lick my fingers.
Okay, it's not round, but I defy any philosophy major out there to eat one and tell me it is not the doughnut ideal, the doughnut of which all other doughnuts are but shadows. (Yeast-raised shadows, of course. Cake doughnuts do not have to compete in this category.)
