This should be easy for you guys: I'm in need of a plain old taco shop in the Hawthorne area or otherwise conveniently on the route from the airport to the east of Manhattan Beach.
One thing I miss since moving far across the country from SoCal is what one might call the plain old taco shop. Nowadays I can find good Mexican food in cities all over the US, and I visit Mexico from time to time and eat my share of that. But in a few days I will briefly be passing through Los Angeles and would like to stop for something that's hard to find elsewhere: a SoCal-style carne asada burrito in one of those nondescript taco shops that are known for fast, cheap tacos/burritos/tortas, etc.
An acquaintance in LA mentioned Zacatecas Restaurant on Inglewood between El Segundo Blvd. and Rosecrans, but that seems to be a restaurant, not a taco shop.
Anyone got a recommendation for a competent taco shop like I remember from decades ago that can fulfill my carne asada burrito jones?
