Plain food weekend

I was advised to lay off dairy, vegetables, red meat, etc. for a while but had a few yummy things. The new Junebug Cafe in JP has a build your sandwich thing going on with a ton of combinations. They don't list any prices which is a pain, but a very plain turkey on olive bread w/ honey mustard was $5.25 I think. It could have been awesome if I'd piled on lettuce, tomato, brie, etc. They have interesting breads from Nashoba bakery. Altho the oatmeal cookie was only fair at best. Temptations on Beacon St. just got written up for their tomato/mozzarella sandwich but I got a turkey (bad girl and got bacon this time) which was fine. Lots of combos plus they have a frozen yogurt machine.

WMBR has fundraising so various places donate food and we had some tasty Jamaican food from a place called Flame (in Dorchester I think but not sure). I just got rice (no beans) with a little chicken plus some plantains, but it was very tasty. Passed up the oxtail and cabbage, but it got raves. For my last rice dish, got chicken breast katsu don at Tampopo in the Porter Sq. mall which really hit the spot. I couldn't remember which place people liked best but this worked out just fine. Scrambled egg, bits of ginger, good amount of chicken for $7.45. I'll definitely try more of the food stalls now that I'm back to normal (I think).
