best places for boston visitors?

Hi,

I am reposting this with a new subject line b/c I think it's more relevant than my previous one; (plus I'm hoping it's a little more compelling and will elicit a response or two from my fellow hounds...)

Hello,

My friend will be in NYC this weekend for a conference with her office staff. (approx 5 people total). I told her I'd help with some restaurant suggestions for Fri and Sat nights. I know this is the sort of request you get all the time, and I did search the board a bit for some ideas, but I've got some ideas and thought I'd run 'em by you guys...

Looking for sort of a mid-range place. Definitely not a hole-in-the-wall but not Le Bernadin either; the food should be good, but definitely less on the formal. I don't think this is the most adventurous crowd, nor do I think they have the most sophisticated palates, so I'm not looking for an overly "inventive" or different menu. They probably don't get to NYC much, so the "experience" is probably just as important as the "food"...Ideally with some good energy -- I'm thinking a big room -- and somewhere that could take a reservation for 5-8 ppl at this late date. Here are some of my thoughts (I haven't checked availability at any of these spots, but just figured I'd run 'em by you guys first.) Comments on these places + any other suggestions you might have are appreciated:

Lupa (I enjoyed a great meal here a year or so ago)

Baltazar

Cafeteria

Five Points

Public

Thor

Stanton Social

Hearth

Vong ?

FYI, they are staying in Times Sq, but are certainly open to traveling up or downtown....
