Hi - I am coming home this weekend from L.A. for my mother's birthday. On Saturday, my mother, aunt and I will be shopping in Center City and I want to take them to a nice lunch. I thought of the Four Seasons, but someone else is taking my mom there on Friday for lunch (lucky lady!). Other than the Ritz-Carlton, which I have actually not eaten at in years, I am a bit stumped given I have not had an upscale lunch in Phila. since I moved 4 yrs ago (and most of the places I have gone for dinner in recent yrs are not open for lunch).
Atmosphere is very important to my mom, so that is the first priority, but the food is extremely important to me, so the food must be great. The food need not be fancy- meaning that a tasty soup, an inventive salad, and/or a delicious sandwich would fit the bill just fine.
Thanks in advance. We will be in the 13th and Chestnut area before heading to lunch, just in case it is possible that we not re-park (though I expect we will have to).
