Pizzaiolo Goes Up In Ratings

oakjoan | Jan 8, 200601:50 AM     2

Three of us ate at Pizzaiolo tonight, albeit at a late hour (around 9 after a movie). We had to wait about 15 minutes, but everybody waiting was inside, bunched around the door. The time flew because a couple that came in just after we did had seen the same movie we had, and we all chatted about it we waited.

We lucked out with the table for 4 between the end of the bar and the window. Music was a little loud, but it was good music (Otis Redding, Radiohead, The Band).

We had a bad impression of this place the first time....long wait and just okay salad (altho great pizza). But that changed tonight.

We ordered frito misto, endive caeser salad, pork meatballs, and a pizza with rapini, mozz, red onions and sausage (I also tasted a bite of anchovy).

It was all delicious save for one mouthful of the salad which was so salty I had to wash my mouth out with water. It must have been salt that got clumped on one leaf and I got it all. After that, it was fine.

The service was very friendly, relaxed and efficient. It may have been due to the late hour. By the time we left there were several empty tables and booths.

Finally saw what everybody's been raving about. My sister was with us (a strict judge of restaurants, and she loved it)We'll be back!
