Pizza D'Oro in Fountain Valley

Afty | Apr 1, 200507:17 PM

A meal from Nick’s Pizza D’Oro served as one of the first dinner dates I had with my then girlfriend/now wife. At the time she lived in Fountain Valley and we had picked up a dinner special for convenience and headed back to her place.

Four years have since past and we’re now married. For old time’s sake and with my birthday as an excuse, I demanded the wife to pick up a Nick’s pizza on the way home from work—and neither she nor the pizza disappointed. Now I must confess, the ONLY pizza I’ve ever gotten at Nick’s is a pepperoni and garlic pizza. Maybe it’s the abundance of fresh, diced garlic on the pizza that really puts it over the top for me. Honestly, I can’t vouch for any other type of pizza or food at this establishment (because I haven’t had it), but for you garlic lovers out there, you just can’t beat a Pizza D’Oro pepperoni and garlic pizza. The crust is thin and the sauce wonderfully flavorful…and garlic that will be coming out of your pores the next day. If you’re lucky enough to see him here, Nick is also quite the personality. My wife couldn’t help but giggle and smile when she told me of how he’d randomly give discounts on a whim to many patrons, all the while muttering and grumbling how his kids charge too much and that don’t know what they’re doing.

10585 Slater Ave, Fountain Valley.

p.s. Afterwards, you can go down the street for a brew at Silky Sullivans.
