Pizza: 1c per bite?

Jacquilynne | Nov 8, 2015 09:55 AM

I was watching Murdoch Mysteries on Netflix and there's an episode in which they repeatedly buy pizza from a cart that's selling it for 1 cent per bite. I think they don't actually show it, but the implication is that they literally let customers bite piece off the rather than cutting a slice, or cutting a piece off a slice.

I'm curious whether this is historically accurate -- was this a typical way of selling pizza in some era? I tried googling and couldn't find any reference to it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a thing.
