Sunday afternoon, despite the heat and a really full stomach from brunch, I accompanied two of my favorite gentlemen who had a mighty hankering for crepes and profiteroles. It paid off nicely for all of us.
I couldn't muster the energy for a crepe, so I settled for the pistachio creme brulee Philippe recommended. What a delight! The custard had been thoroughly infused with real ground pistachios, traces of which could be clearly seen and tasted at the bottom of the dish. Definitely one of the best creme brulees in the Bay Area.
The crepes--previously discussed--are very good. The profiteroles were made with homemade chou pastry and filled with ice cream, topped with a warm dark chocolate sauce. Philippe thoroughly enjoyed them, but I'm not into profiteroles and was happy to focus on my iced coffee and the pistachio flavor of the creme brulee.
