pischke's - scottsdale

Hit Pischke's Blue Ribbon this weekend. The room looked cool. Been made over a bit. It's a little bit more understated now. A little bit cowboy. The menu looked interesting. The new menu looked cool. The service was fantastic from the hostess to the server to management. The food just wasn't that great.

Had the following...

Chicken & mushroom crepes. Good flavor but the temperature was off. Lukewarm at best.
Gratin of king crab. Good but not spectacular. At least a good amount of crab.
Braised pork belly. Edible but definitely not great. Kind of tough.
Nightly special, filet with dauphinoise potatoes. Steak was overdone but the potatoes were great. Were the favorite thing of the night. Still prefer Vincent's at the farmer's market but they were good.
Burger. Decent but dry.

All in all, it was kind of a bummer. Everything set up right. Expectations were there & then the food just kind of fell short. Hopefully they are still getting things ironed out but we won't be heading back until we at least hear a few very positive reviews.
