Met a friend for lunch there last week and really really liked it. Later I heard it's the same chef as Fringale, which I love so it's no surprise I liked this.
High points- which I've cut and pasted off the menu
Sautéed sea scallops with chorizo, apple & arugula
this was light, tasty and an interesting combination. the scallops were cooked just right, not dry, and the arugula was springy and fresh.
Sautéed monterey squid with grapes, foie gras and fingerling potatoes
one of the top dishes i've had in SF! the fois gras portion was generous and the squid cooked just right. In fact i couldn't finish this dish because it was so big! a wonderful combo of flavors.
My friend works nearby and had the lamb, which he raved about. it looke moist and rare and delicious!
We didn't have dessert since we don't care for sweet things.
Coffee (as an italian I'm fussy about this!) was very good, with a good crema.
Service was friendly and effective, and the restaurant just had a really nice feel to it that made me want to make it a regular place for me.
I'd recommend sitting by the windows so you can see the room but also outside.
I'm looking forward to going in the evening though- they only had a 9:30pm slot for the evening this week i wanted to go and the friend I want to treat likes to sleep early so we're goign to Fifth Floor..
