Just returned from another visit to Bilbao/Donostia and environs and wonder if anybody knows of a place in the Bay area that serves relatively authentic pintxos? They are wonderful in their variety and at 1-11/2 euros each in the myriad of places in even the smallest Basque villages, a great pre-meal [or entire meal!] way to enjoy many tastes for relatively little $. Even a place called "Pintxos" that was open in the Mission for a while [replaced by Ramblas] didn't have pintxos.. For anyone else that loves them as much as I do there is a great "cookbook" [more accurately "assembly" book] called "Pintxos de Donostia" {"Tapas of San Sebastian"- available in English]. I brought it back on a previous visit, but saw it at Spanish Table in Berkeley not long ago.Although Basque in origin they've become wildly popular in other Spanish cities as stand alone Pintxos places or as canape sized additions to tapas/racion offerings.
