Pinecone Diner in Point Reyes Station - Overpriced and mediocre

Marat | Aug 7, 200603:26 PM     12

I guess I should have been put on notice when I saw the T-shirts the servers and cooks wear at the Pinecone Diner, which read "Great food, prickly service." They should actually read, "mediocre food, no service to speak of, way too expensive." I actually used to go here when it was a real mom and pop diner. The food was good, prices reasonable and it didn't aspire to anything more than geting you on your way with a full stomach. Went last Sunday and had a burger I could have gotten cheaper almost anywhere. Wife had a salad with chicken and had a hard time finding the little chicken pieces that were supposed to be in it. Two friends had Salmon burgers which they said were "ok." The harried waitress wore a permanent scowl which turned to a look of disgust when anything extra were asked of her. We couldn't wait to leave, even though at those prices, one should have wanted to linger. I hear they have a great Espresso shake. I won't return to try it.
