First look: Pine Street Market, downtown Portland's new food hall

stevewi | Apr 9, 2016 12:47 PM

This place is right up the street from Kells. It should do pretty well...lots of foot traffic there in the summer because of the Saturday Market and the park (it's kind of like a food cart pod with permanent residents, comfortable seating, etc)...the challenge will be attracting locals in the winter. The renovation project has been underway for the better part of a year.

As the empty/parking lots downtown that currently are the homes to the food cart pods get developed, we may be seeing more of these. Certainly the new James Beard Public Market that is planned for a space near the western foot of the Morrison Bridge will have one of these too. So... even the food cart scene in Portland is gentrifying...

gamene & greyelf... This may interest you on your upcoming trips to Portland. It should be completely open by then.
