Pierogi in DC/Balto

I am a Lithuanian-American desperately in search of pierogi. This has been an on again-off again quest since moving to Washington six years ago. Given Washington's complete lack of Eastern European heritage, I've pretty much written off any hope of finding pierogi here. But surely, there must be some in Baltimore, given the Polish heritage there.

A few years ago, I made my wife and kids take a 45-minute drive after hearing about Ze Mean Bean cafe. I was disappointed. The pierogi seemed frozen or just a little too much like Mrs. Ts for comfort. Plus, it was way too trendy and fragile to comfortably take small children on a Sunday morning. A long wait and a table right in front of the band did not help.

I'm really looking for something I have craved since leaving New York City: a Ukranian coffee shop like the ones in the East Village. I really, really miss Sunday brunch at Kiev, Veselka and Theresa's.

Is there anything like that in Highland Town or anymore else in Baltimore?

I've recently heard about something called the Lithuanian Hall and a Ukranian place called Lisa's Coffee House on Charles Street. Does anyone know anything about them?
