Last May, glbtrtr reported on Pier 46 Seafood in Templeton. A week later I had a chance to try it myself. Trying to escape the 100-degree heat in Paso Robles, we had headed to Templeton which was a balmy 89 degrees.
Pier 46 was packed. We ordered a sampling of items to share. Steamed mussels, a full pound, were just right and not overcooked. A side of baguette slices grilled with garlic basil butter helped us capture all the juices. Halibut tacos, ordered crispy (fried) were beautifully dressed with finely shaved cabbage, cilantro and spicy sauce, served with chips and salsa, plus limes. The cup of white clam chowder was good enough but too thick for my taste and not remarkable.
This was just what we needed before heading home. Pier 46 served up fresh seafood, prepared well, for a fair price. One caution, it's not open very late and we were the last order to be taken before the 7pm Saturday closing time.
