Pico: not worth it

becky | May 22, 2001 01:11 AM

The setting and the service aside, I found Pico to be pretty disappointing. Once exception was the cocunut stuffed sardine app with thinly sliced marinated cucumbers. But the entrees (a mushy and rather bland Sargo, which is the same as sea bream, i'm told) and the suckling pig that everyone can't stop raving about, were just not at all good. The pig was totally unseasoned, to the point where no amount of salt was going to matter. The skin was good, but not $35 good. There was enough pork for about 3 people. Ugh. It was served on a bed of sauteed spinach, and accompanied by a side of roasted potato rounds--not exactly 3 star food, I'd say.

Desserts were good, but not good enough to make us forget the earlier disappoinments.

And I so wanted to like this place...
