Picnic Committee dinner meeting

Yimster | Oct 2, 2002 11:19 PM

Some of the members of your picnic committee met for dinner to discuss the work we will have to do for the picnic. What better then over a dinner.

Windy, Yimster, Derek and the Yimster family met for
dinner at Shanghai in Daly City.

The Shanghai in the shopping center off Skyline in Daly City where 99 Ranch is the anchor of the center.

We order the $39.00 dinner. Plus two dishes.

This came with 16 steamed little dragon buns. Some of us had buns with the soup other did not. These were home made because the shapes and size looked not machine made. Good enough for future review.

Red braised pork shank; this was too dry and not sweet enough. Also it was not cooked to order, mostly likely done ahead of time and reheated to order. The sauce was not rich in color or favor,

Shanghai eel: this was not the best of the set. Lots of bean sprouts not much eel.

Drunken Chicken and Mock Goose; the chicken was very good and the Mock Goose was deep fried quickly. We like this touch.

We added tea smoked duck: this was a big hit. Served with small buns.

We also added a Japanese soy bean stir crab. A great idea but the crab was not alive where cooked. We could tell because the flesh was soft. But the idea is great outside the fact the crab was not alive when they started.

The best dish was the Shanghai vegetable fried rice. This was the a simple dish but I think it stole the show.

If I left off any dishes the committee can add the dishes I missed. Did not take notes so that what I remember.

Still searching for the prefect bun and pot sticker.
