How do you pick a SWEET watermelon?

seefoo | Jun 4, 201812:46 PM     5

my dad was all over the place. he would primarily look for a fruit with the most bug scratches. his logic was the the bugs targeted the sweeter ones. i've seen him thump them.

now? i wish my dad was still alive for a myriad reasons, but i would love to debate him on this. :D

i chose melons that are heavy for the size. a smaller fruit that weighs more than the bigger melon next to it? a winner! i also look for the biggest white spot on the fruit that indicates it has been sitting on the ground the longest. that is all. i dont claim to be 100% but i am very close?

share any secrets?
my mom gets the veggie department guy to choose one for her. haha.
