Piccolo Angolo- a fall from grace

don | Jan 6, 2003 01:53 PM

Piccolo Angelo was a great little restaurant. When I lived in the west village we used to frequent piccolo angelo often.

I also often recommended piccolo angelo as one of those great New York City Finds where you can have a great meal without spending a ton of money.
Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. I quess after all the praise, including getting a venerable 24 in Zagats, they no longer have a need to impress.
Recently, six of us ate there and the comments ranged from poor, to ok. we were all very disappointed. even the osso bucco which came strongly recommended was a failure. all fat, no meat.

well, one bad experience is not reason enough to write this place off. I returned a week later and was equally disappointed. this is not to say that piccolo angolo is a horrible restaurant, but it now is mediocre one. with plenty of italian restaurants to choose from, they are off my list
