My 40th bday is coming up. Seems like a reason to celebrate I suppose with a special dinner.
I can't decide where to go. My first inclination is Kai as this is my most favorite high end place in town.
But...I'm not sure if i want to revisit somewhere else we've loved(Binkley's, T. Cooks Deseo) try something new(La Hacienda? Sanctuary?)). We've been fortunate to have dined at Kai a few times now - never disappointed but maybe we need to try something different.
I quit my full time job last year and it seems I'm sending myself to graduate school very soon as a birthday present...that combined with the general economic conditions at the moment...we've really changed our dining out habits in the past year. So high end dinners have really become a special occasion type of thing and much more infrequent than they used to be.
I really can't decide where we should celebrate. we've been fortunate to have visited most of the commonly mentioned places. There's a few we've missed. Also, not at the very high end there's some places we haven't been to yet(Rancho Pinot Grill, Coup des Tartes for instance)
I love seafood and don't eat much steak. Probably not looking for asian(though we haven't yet been to SeaSaw either). Budget anywhere from $20-$300 for two not including alcohol. Looking for somewhere that will feel special and we won't feel rushed. Where the food is special and the evening will be memorable.
So....phoenix chowhounds! where would you go to celebrate?
