Phuping Thai losing its lease

Jefferson | Nov 14, 2005 12:35 PM

Phuping Thai, located in the Pacific East Mall (just off I-80 at Central Ave., El Cerrito), apparently will serve it last meal this coming Sunday, 11/20/05. Unless the landlord relents and offers better lease terms!

For anyone inclined to go, some of the more unique dishes include:

"Crying Tiger" salad -- a generous portion of medium-rare rib eye steak, sliced into 1" strips, served over a handful of greens with a garlic chili dressing on the side.

"Thaitanic Salmon" -- chunks of salmon with string beans in green curry, topped with crispy basil.

(As this is a sister restaurant to Thep Phanom, it's possible you can get these dishes there as well.)

Well, time to find a new freeway-close, East Bay Thai for take-out (perhaps one with easier parking even).
