Phoenix Pastificio - Berkeley

Had a nice lunch at Phoenix Pastificio on Shattuck today. It's basically a pasta shop that decided to punch out the wall and start a cafe. It is lunch only, small, and menu is pasta only. Nice flavor combinations and of course exceptionally fresh pasta. My fish was well handled. Arrive early, as tables filled up early. Service is not their strong point. The chef was walking around chatting with folks and offering all a complimentary glass of wine. A very nice gesture, but my guess is that they don't have liquor license and can't sell wine, so the chef has worked it into the price of food (~$10 a plate). Decent wine too, the red was a Guigal, I think Cotes du Rhone, couldn't see the label on the white. Nice pasta, wine, mineral water, coffee, and dessert for two was $31.
