Off to the Scottsdale-Phoenix area (I'm a well-fed New Yorker)in a few weeks. Two questions: For business reasons, had to make a reservation for a la-de-dah dinner at a fancy-shmancy place and followed a friend's suggestion of Vincent's on Camelback. Will this be an ernest dinner presented by a talented chef, or a silly, overpriced meal? When she told me the enormous length of the wine list, I became concerned.
Second, I read through the board and am disappointed to learn that fine Sonoran cooking is available in Tucson, but not Phoenix. Is this so? Can anyone recommmend some native places to eat? I know about the great pizza parlor, but surely there must be some fine local cooking, I hope, I hope??? Thanks to you.
