We stopped by Pho Viet Nam for bubble tea after dim sum last weekend, and tried it tonight. I would recommend it above the other places I've tried on Avenue U. They are new, they don't have their license to serve beer and the service was poor (brought the entrees before the appetizers, forgot two items we ordered) but the food made up for it.
The Banh Hoi Thit Heo Nuong "grilled pork on tiny rice stick with lettuce cucumbers and mint leaves" was the tasty highlight. The Pho chin nam ve dzon was a delicious broth but maybe we should have tried something more adventurous with tendon, omasa tendon (?), navel...
We had tried spring rolls (excellent!) and papaya salad with shrimp (I thought it was a little bland). Prices were very reasonable, and I am going to go back and try some more interesting dishes like frog legs, beef fondue, squid casseroles, sausage w egg over rice. Not sure I am going to try the bun bo hue (soup with beef and condensed pig blood cubes in special vermicelli hue-style)
I did ask for a banh mi sandwich to go, it is not Saigon Banh Mi #1 quality but it is convenient if you are in the neighborhood
In addition to bubble teas they have fruit shakes (including a durian nectar shake), soda w yolk and condensed milk, avocado shake, sour sop, longan, salty lemonade
