Hi, I'm living in Japan (absolutely no decent pho in this entire city) but will be in Oahu this weekend, and I've been madly searching the web for vietnamese restaurants there that serve good pho, but I'm not finding much info. I know there are lots of Vietnamese restaurants on the island, but which are the best (the ones with 4 different kinds of chilli sauce and other condiments cluttering the tables; that serve big accompanying plates of fresh herbs, limes, chillies and beansprouts; where the soup is almost crystal clear and the beef is fresh enough to be served in raw, paper-thin rounds on a separate plate)?
In Tokyo, sometimes the vietnamese restaurants don't HAVE chilli sauce! Sometimes they--sob--use wheat noodles instead of rice noodles. And forget about getting basil, or even beansprouts most of the time. Can't wait to get to Hawaii. Ahh.
