pho and boba in westmont

this week i had a chance to go back out to the Di Ho market and the attached international food court next door. There was a new vendor since the last time I was out there Tropioka Cafe. Vietnamese.

I had a pretty decent bun bo hue, came with all the variety meat you could wish (including a couple of those spongy meatballs), a lttle container of bean sprouts, a few sprigs of basil, and lime on the side and lots of cilantro on the soup. I couldn't tell how good the broth was under all the chili oil on top, but what i could taste was pretty good. Next time I might get a super bowl (pho dac biet). Also every place out there is now offering boba.

I also remembered the name of the taiwanese counter I like best out there - oriental seafood house 998

Next door is a a branch of triple crown that rene wrote about recently, they are not open late so I don't know if they'd have the late-night menu offerings

the woman at the counter of tropioka got a real kick from the fact that I pronounced bun bo hue reasonably correct (to be honest it was a shot in the dark) so if you want to make her giggle - "bone boy hui"
