Phatt Boys (Rock Bottom Brewery) Harvard Sqr. Review

Phatt Boys is where the Brew Moon/Rock Bottom Brewery used to be in Harvard Square. It opened 18 days ago without much change to the echoing RBB space. The menu is extensive and thankfully much better than BM or RBB, but the gimmicks are back with a Phatt Boy frequent visitor club.

Yesterday we stopped in to watch the game and were smitten by the bartender, who kept us laughing and poured some great drinks (23oz beer=$4.50: basic beer selection).

BBQ seems to be the specialty, but we went low-key for the first visit: huge Greek salad with romaine, nicely spiced cup of chili and a chicken cordon blue wrap of the day...good and reasonably priced for Harvard Sqr. This is still a "meet for drinks after work" type place (small pool table, trivia night and 9 TVs to watch the game)and it feels like a chain with all the slick marketing.

The one interesting thing to note is that the BM/RBB brewing tanks remain and the owner plans to have 3 housebrewed beers: a lager, an ale (?) and a that might be something to keep an eye out for.

There is another location in Stoughton and the couple next to us said the food was much better at the new Harvard Sqr. location.
