Perhaps I shouldn't start this with such a "great" undiscovered place, but to me Pacific Food Importers (PFI) on 6th Ave in Seattle is kind of a combination of Mecca and the Costco of great foods.
Prices are great and hard-to-find items in abundance, especially when it comes to cheeses and grains. Plus, the counter people are just super.
It bums me out when I see this store get a bad rap; as a non-native I can tell you this is one of the region's great food treasuers.
I'd like to hear from other "addicts'" as to what they consider some of the best buys there. I'll start by saying I can't get out of PFI without some more of their bulk olives, bulk spices and olive oils..
