Aki mentioned this place some time ago and I finally had a chance to sample it recently. These might be my favorite donuts in NYC. While some of the offerings in the front window look kind of like those diner desserts in the spinning case, the stuff behind the counter is where it's at. Good jelly filled, custard filled, marble cruller, and good basic raised glazed. As Aki mentions, they're on the cakey side, but as long as it's fresh, it's still kind of airy and fluffy. They're still not as good as my favorite donuts in LA, but for NY, they're awful good. I'm not the biggest fan of Doughnut Plant, as they've proved to me that great donuts are more than the sum of their gourmet parts. So along with the sausages I get from the butchers along Manhattan Ave, I have to get a few donuts too.
