How to keep pesto that brilliant shade of green?

There was a recent post about efforts to rescue pesto that had turned an unappetizing shade of brown. Any hints for preparation that will keep it bright green? I once saw a suggestion to add some crushed vitamin C to the blender, but surely that would affect the taste.
