Tried this place tonight because we were totally exhausted, had had no bkfst or lunch and were starving and knew we’d have no prob w/ reserva at 5pm on sat., tonight.
Upshot- nice staff, popular neighborhood spot, pretty good to good food.
Pizza --honest ingredients, well formed and baked,good char, not skimpy toppings. Not enough marinara for me and not as thin as i like but still tasty. (But no competition for my top pizzas: Regina North End and Stone Hearth, Belmont.)
Fusilli w/ scallops, shrimp, lobster in white wine sauce. Needed oomph, per My Love.
Fusilli w/ shrimp in marsala sauce(not on menu; requested). V. good; just what i wanted. Neat to have hand formed fusilli.
Strawberry sorbetto (w/ mascarpone in mixture)- excellent flavor
Iggy’s Francese is their table bread; yay
Fried squid on bed of fried onion strings. Preferred the bed but they needed a burger w/ them. Calamari fresh but not crispy like we like; we prefer dredged in flour, not battered.
Arancini- boRING. Zero flavor (problem of no parm in the rice mixture), not hot enough (cheese inside the pocket not melted but flavorless nonetheless) Nothing approaching the excellence of the arancini at La Morra or The Independent. Maybe previously frozen(dryness of rice.)
Eggplant Parm- too much breading; no oomph
Glad they were there tonight but we are not likely to return.
