Are you a tamale fan, but often wish they were more substantial, or had more filling? Well then, I hope you live near enough to Union Square, because Macchu Pichu Las Brasas may just be your solution. We have been going there for many years, and find their Peruvian Chicken a terrific treat once or twice a month. Along with it, we always get their Pork Tamales which are VERy different from the Mexican ones we enjoy. These are wrapped in banana leaves and are ginormous; orange colored from the meat stock the masa is cooked with, and filled with a substantial amount of moist deeply flavored pulled pork chunks , egg and olive. One tamale might easily fill you up for lunch (and they reheat well [best steamed.])
