New peruvian sighting

Cathy | May 3, 2000 05:28 PM

Today I happened to walk by Tia Nora at 142-144 W. 29th Street, between 6th & 7th. The "Peruvian specials" sign caught my eye. There's a big take-out counter in front (serving pizza, egg sandwiches, etc.), but there are some tables in the back of the place. I didn't have time to eat there, but grabbed a menu.

During the week, it looks like just one or two Peruvian dishes per day, like anticucho, papa la huancaina, Mondogito Italiano (Tripe w/onions), and Chicken Escabeche. But on weekends, they also have Lomo Saltado, Cau Cau, Tillarin Verdes ("green spaghetti"), Aji de Gallina, etc. They have Chica Morada, too.

I'll check this out soon, since it's near where I work. In the meantime, has anyone eaten here yet?
