El Condor is a gem of a restaurant in Buchanan, a small village a few minutes south of Peekskill with a large Peruvian population. It's clean, friendly, and pleasant. Neither particularly cheap nor expensive.
The chef/owner is the best Peruvian chef I've ever encountered. Everything I've had there has shown tear-jerking care and enormous flare. Both qualities are rare. Peruvian food in the tristate area tends to be pretty uniform - the differences are pretty minute. This place is perfectly traditional, but the touch takes it to a whole other level. See photo of some incredible lomo saltado, at link below. Everything I've had there - every bite - has been right on the money. It's worth a trip from anywhere.
Please pass the word. The problem with quality in the boonies is that it's largely unappreciated, and when great places fail, it reduces the incentive for others to open great places.
