One of my first Southern California eureka moments was going to the Farmers Market at SM airport and somebody offering me a taste of a Kyoho Grape. To me it looked like a Concord and up to that point the only Concords I'd had were on the East Coast at Thanksgiving when my Mother would buy them to put in the cornucopia centerpiece for the table. Needless to say they were not good.
So when I bit in to this grape, It was like a lightning bolt and my first thought was "Holy S&!t! this is where Welches got the idea for the flavor of Grape Jelly!" and ever since I have been a convert to Kyoho Grapes.
Well it's the season now and Ha's had them at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market on Sunday. When I bought a 5# container, Dommy! thought my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I would need to put some in the freezer. Now it's Wednesday and the box is half gone, so I will be ready to buy another box on Sunday.
So if you see them at the Farmers Markets, you might want to pick some up, before I buy them all.
