Perfect anniversary dinner

Janet | Apr 8, 2010 11:20 PM

Tonight with another couple we celebrated our anniversary at the Terrace Room. The service was perfect, the room quiet enough to talk with ease, and wonderful food. We had flatbread with carmelized onions and other goodies; and calamari battered with polenta for appetizers. Thursday is free wine tasting which was a nice bonus.

For dinner we had rib eyes, lamb chops and the spaghetti with mushrooms. The lamb is the best I have ever eaten. Including what we cook. Tender, rich, perfectly cooked. The rib eyes were great, and our friend loved his mushroom/spaghetti dish.

For dessert we had the chocolate mousse, rich, two types of chocolate, but light enough to end a rich meal.

We brought our own wine for dinner and gladly paid the corkage fee. Except they made a mistake on our bill and charged us 2 corkage fees. When we called the waiter's attention to the error, they comped the fee. We were surprised by that. No need for them to do that. But they did. A class act in so many ways.

We have had the waiter before and he is great. The service is perfection with out being stuffy. He gives you info and time to decide what you want and need. And no problem with sitting and taking your time to enjoy the experience.

Every time we have been here it has been a lovely experience.

Of course the view is to die for. Sunset on Lake Merritt. Life is good.
