Penang-style soup noodles NYC?

Hi, sorry I have tried to search but am finding the new format a bit difficult for things like sorting by date or filtering, or restricting search to a single board (I guess because now the boards are tags), etc.

I've been to several of the Malaysian restaurants in town years ago, but then lived in Asia from mid-2010 til this year. I know probably some new restaurants have opened up (and closed) in that time, even if there was never much Malaysian food here to begin with. During my time abroad I only visited Malaysia once, 4 days in George Town. While everything was extraordinarily delicious, the only things I regularly dream about having again are hokkien mee (prawn mee) and assam laksa (but the specific Penang style). I'm Chinese and I cook some variety of Asian food for nearly every meal anyway, but I'm not ready to commit the time required to making those soup bases if I can just buy it instead.

Any chance a good version can be found in any of the boroughs? If not, would also not mind some off-topic LA or SF recommendations.
