Penang - Hainanese options at Yeng Keng Cafe

Had some surprisingly good Hainanese dishes at Yeng Keng Hotel's cafe this evening.

Amongst dishes we had:

- Hainanese-style mushroom & chicken soup with chicken livers/gizzards, flavored with "taucheo" (a miso-like fermented soybean paste)
- Hainanese-style fried noodles - fat yellow noodles stir-fried with chicken, shrimps, sprouts & chives in a thick "taucheo"-flavored gravy;
- Penang Nyonya "Inche Kabin" - deep-fried chicken pieces which had been marinated in spices & coconut milk, served with Worcestershire sauce dip - a bit too dry here. The accompanying prawn crackers were nice;
- Fried "Sar hor fun". Very good here, with a distinctive "wok hei" fragrance.

Very reasonably-priced - a meal for 4 including beers & cocktails was only RM160 or USD50.
